The Why?

The Why, in my opinion, is the most important element in the success of any business. When the inevitable rough days occur and the challenging moments overwhelm your thought processes, ‘The Why’ is the beacon which ensures you’ll stay focused. What is your purpose? What are the voids you are trying to fill in a market that has long been saturated? What most of us look at are the awards of our favorite artists, entertainers, and preferred consumer brands, but we fail to realize the products we enjoy are all refined over time by the core purpose of the individual organization.

I could glamorize our story with notes of profound statements mentioning how we are what the industry needs and we have the technological advances only a youthful, clean-slate company that hasn’t been tarnished by the industry’s past etiquette could provide, but that wouldn’t be the truth. The truth is I want to develop an appealing culture in an industry that is not known to be “sexy”.

For as far back as I can remember, I saw my future in heavy construction/infrastructure, but I couldn’t fully grasp what that meant until I entered the New York City market. It’s cutthroat. It’s burdensome. And it’s everything I ever needed to build my career. It is true what they say - show me someone who hasn’t made a mistake and I’ll show you someone who hasn’t learned a thing.

Quadrant Engineering was founded on one guiding philosophy - we want to be a part of the success of every project team we partner with. The key, obviously, is part. That’s truthfully why the namesake of the company is “quadrant”. There is no egocentric connotation that we need to be a prime consultant to be visible. There is no zero-sum formula whereas, for Quadrant to obtain the project, you simply cannot. We understand in every team, individuals must play their part, and play it well, for overall success. That’s when the magic happens.

So back to The Why. I started Quadrant Engineering to cultivate a team of professionals with the ability to provide the construction industry with honest, reliable, and clearly communicated services. My formula for doing so starts with those who join the team. Corporate cohesion and brand equity mean everything to me. We aspire to be the organization that college graduates look forward to joining and the team which industry-veterans look to for a change in scenery. It’s no surprise when those who are ecstatic about where they work, the highest quality will ultimately be reflected in their finish products.

This post was my first effort in transparency. I wanted potential clients and interested parties to understand where we are coming from because I believe better relationships will develop if our partners feel connected to us. Moving forward, Quadrant Engineering will continue to provide genuine content on our QuadRANTS blog. We will discuss Local Laws, industry trends, new hires, projects and opinion pieces that will at very least, initiate conversation.  Please continue to follow our growth as we begin our journey in developing not just another engineering company, but an organization whose purpose is to create a culture of prominent engineers loving what they do for society. I see this entrepreneurial opportunity as a dream and frankly, a privilege and I will continue to treat it as such every day.
