As builders and designers, we are uniquely positioned in an industry where we have the capacity and resources to take on philanthropic projects that will directly effect our communities in meaningful ways.
The Construct A Dream initiative (CADi) is something that has been woven into the fabric of Quadrant from the beginning. Every year, we dedicate a percentage of our annual profits to a volunteer effort we are heading or partnering with in our local communities.
The future goal for CADi is to choose a single project within the community and continuously provide engineering and management services throughout the development of the philanthropic endeavor.
2024 update
March 2024 - We're thrilled to share the incredible experience we had hosting a mentorship program for high school students from City Polytechnic High School in Downtown Brooklyn in partnership with the American Society of Civil Engineers - Metropolitan Section. Our program aimed to inspire and guide these bright young minds as they explore the exciting world of engineering. From the very start, we engaged them with warm introductions, setting the stage for an enriching journey ahead.
Through engaging presentations on various engineering disciplines, we provided insights into the diverse career paths available, igniting their curiosity and passion for innovation. The heart of our program lay in meaningful discussions, where we listened intently to their aspirations and offered guidance to help shape their academic and professional trajectories. We also facilitated college placement sessions, empowering them with the knowledge and resources to pursue their dreams in higher education.
A highlight of the program was an unforgettable IMAX movie experience, where they delved into ASCE's latest production, "Cities of the Future," sparking imagination and envisioning the possibilities ahead. To cap it all off, an office visit at Stantec offered them a firsthand glimpse into the dynamic and fulfilling life of an engineer, inspiring them to pursue their dreams with determination and enthusiasm. It's moments like these that remind us of the importance of nurturing the next generation of STEM leaders and fostering a community of innovation and excellence.
On Saturday, January 6, 2024, the Quadrant Team once again took the day to give back to the community through volunteering with the Citymeals on Wheels organization. Meals were prepared and distributed throughout Manhattan. The objective of Quadrant Engineering was to make as many deliveries to the elderly, that are a part of the program, as possible.
We arrived at the meal pick-up location in Manhattan at 9:00 am. We were then able to meet with the organizer where we were able to obtain both the food for delivery and their respective delivery locations. The meals were well received and the individuals who benefited were truly grateful which is always a rewarding feeling for us. Unfortunately, not all individuals were at home at the time resulting in not all the listed individuals getting to benefit. However, no meal was wasted, and extras were either handed out to other recipients on the list or handed out to the homeless on the street.
On behalf of the Quadrant Team, I would like to thank the organizers for their efforts in organizing the event and we look forward to helping in any way possible in the future.
2023 update
On August 27th, The Construct a Dream Initiative partnered with the Supreme Headcutterz Barbershop in Queens Village, New York to host a Back to School Supply Drive. We raised funds and donated as well to procure over 60 book bags filled with school supplies. In addition, the barbershop had a full staff providing children with free haircuts so they're all set to head back to school. Outside, we provided everyone with free food, music, and a place to hang out on a Sunday afternoon.
We reached out to the community through churches, mosques, police departments, YMCA, daycares etc. and we had a massive turnout with supplies completely gone within the first two hours. We're excited for what this can become on an annual basis. Lastly, we'd like to thank everyone who volunteered, donated, and came out to support.
May 2023 - Quadrant Engineering partnered with the American Society of Civil Engineers for a mentorship program with students from George Westinghouse High School in Brooklyn. The high school is a career and technical institution that focuses on STEM. The initial visit allowed the mentors to better understand the students and where they see themselves for their careers.
The following visits focused more on an introduction to civil engineering and what we as engineers do on a daily basis whether we are in design or on the construction site daily. The program also provided site visits for students so that they can better visualize the function of engineering.
This effort is in alignment with Quadrant's Construct a Dream Initiative and we look forward to more events like this so that we can spotlight civil engineering for the next generation.
February 2023 - Quadrant Engineering had a great time celebrating E-Week at Stony Brook University. Rafiq Chowdhury (President) and Marino Aristy (Project Engineer) discussed how the industry functions, growth trends, the variety of opportunities within civil engineering, and how the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) can be a resource. We also left all of the attendees plenty of Quadrant swag.
The students were engaged and asked plenty of questions. We'd happily speak with the students again.
Stony Brook University is one of a few universities with an accredited civil engineering program on Long Island. Their program has approximately 150 undergrads and they chartered their ASCE Student Chapter in 2014.
2022 update
December 2022- After years of volunteering and witnessing firsthand the impact a visit and a meal can have for the isolated elderly in New York, we continue to support delivering meals to the homebound. This year we are pleased to donate a percentage of our profits toward Citymeals on Wheels, an organization dedicated to feeding those who might not otherwise have a meal.
Serving homebound elderly since 1981, Citymeals on Wheels guarantees that 100% of all public donations will be used for the preparation and delivery of meals. Citymeals has delivered more than 54 million meals to the city’s frail aged population. Citymeals delivers weekend, holiday and emergency meals to frail aged New Yorkers, ensuring they never go a day without a nutritious meal and a warm visit. We will continue to support this invaluable organization and remain determined to fight hunger in the city.
Quadrant is dedicated to the next generation of engineers and is an official sponsor of Stony Brook University's American Society of Civil Engineers Student Chapter. While we contribute financial assistance for the chapter, we also provide professional advice, internships, and we present to the engineering students at the University. We are proud to be able to provide guidance and information about engineering for those about to enter the field. The ASCE continues to be an important organization for both current and up-and-coming engineers.
2020 update
October 2020 - This holiday season we know it is going to look very different for a lot of families. Particularly, our elderly community. During the COVID-19 crisis, the need for meals and check-ins have increased significantly. Prior to the pandemic, many frail aged New Yorkers did not receive regularly home-delivered meals. Some would go to their local senior center for breakfast or lunch, and many live in senior or public housing.
This is exactly why our latest effort is to assist the Citymeals on Wheels organization. In addition to funding we have also registered to continuously volunteer. As one of the largest meals on wheels programs in the United States, Citymeals on Wheels delivers over 2 million meals to more than 18,000 homebound elderly New Yorkers annually. In a city of over 8 million, no one should experience this deep hunger and isolation, especially the elderly. We at Quadrant will always feel very strongly about stopping city-wide hunger and will continue to work with organizations such as Citymeals on Wheels to assist where we can.
May 2020 - We collaborated with an apparel company based in California and Masks for America to donate non-surgical masks to those on the frontlines. All of the masks are made in the United States. Masks for America’s goal is to donate 1 million non-medical face masks throughout the country. As of May, they have donated over half a million masks. Quadrant’s specific donation is being provided to both New York City and the founder’s hometown of South Florida.
March 2020 - Due to COVID-19, NYC schools are closed and we know that children will lose access to school meals and families will face greater challenges as this crisis develops. We’ve donated proceeds of our latest projects to City Harvest as they have designated services to assist those children in need that are home from school. If you or your organization would like to join in the effort please visit City Harvest’s Donation Platform.
