National Engineers Week

National Engineers week is designed to celebrate all the fields of engineering and the contributions that engineers make to society.  In 1951, the National society of Professional Engineers chose to celebrate the week in tandem with George Washington’s birthday as he was considered a prominent engineer and one of the first in America.

Today, over 70 engineering, educational, and cultural societies as well as 50 corporations and government agencies have joined together to showcase the importance of engineers. Together they bring attention to the many professions and specialties available and engage youth to light the spark of interest in engineering.

Quadrant Engineering had a great time celebrating E-Week at Stony Brook University. Rafiq Chowdhury (President) and Marino Aristy (Project Engineer) discussed how the industry functions, growth trends, the variety of opportunities within civil engineering, and how the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) can be a resource. We also left all of the attendees plenty of Quadrant swag.

The students were engaged and asked plenty of questions. We'd happily speak with the students again.

Stony Brook University is one of a few universities with an accredited civil engineering program on Long Island. Their program has approximately 150 undergrads and they chartered their ASCE Student Chapter in 2014.
